LIONS, TIGERS, POLO BEARS?!
WHY THE POLO BEAR IS UNDEFEATED…
Polo Ralph Lauren features one of the world’s most recognizable logos, the pony. The pony is so powerful you can take an ordinary plain polo shirt and slap Ralph’s logo on it to turn it into an instant work of art. As famous and renowned the logo is there is a second logo that is arguably better than the Pony, that logo is the Polo Bear.
The Polo Bear features an illustrated Teddy Bear that dons various Ralph Lauren outfits that the brand produce. In my opinion what makes the Polo Bear so genius is that it serves as the avatar of its own brand. Not only is it the avatar for Ralph it is an avatar for consumers as well. The various outfits the Polo Bear wears is as diverse as any human in their daily life. Whether It’s an evening tuxedo, casual wear, or athletic wear the Polo Bear is synonymous with us being people who don’t stick to the same uniform.
For a while the Polo Bear was no longer in production but after high customer demand, Ralph had no other choice but to bring it back for the consumers to wear again. From sweaters, hats, socks, and even polos the Polo Bear represents a person who is adaptable to each scenario and never fails to look the part. Much like an actual bear I believe the Polo Bear is the strongest representation of strength in fashion with each image showing that no matter what journey life takes you on, Polo has you covered in the same way a Mama Bear has its Cubs.
